![]() Toys 'R' Us Kid | 05 Feb 2002 Lauren is so cute. I know that I have to say that because she's my daughter and all, but I'm absolutely certain that even if she wasn't, I would still say that she was just so cute. Because she is. While I was contemplating getting the mail (it's really cold so it is quite the task), I decided "What the hell!" and I bundled her all up and took her outside and we kicked her ball around. It was fun. It's just one of those little fun things that makes the day so happy. I watched her chase the little ball around with so much excitement, you'd think she was at Disneyland. She'd run up to one of the piles of leaves (that I'm incredibly embarrassed to say that we still have not picked up) and she'd jump up into them and land on her little chubby butt, laughing hysterically the whole time. It was quite adorable. After I took her inside, she kept pointing to the door and saying "Ball! Ball!" Then she'd go find her ball and try to lead me back outside again. I felt bad, but it is just too damn cold to be spending the whole day out there. A half hour is about all I can stand outside in the freezing cold. So I took out her legos and we played with those. The poor little thing gets so frustrated sometimes when she can't make the pieces fit right and she'll throw whatever she's building. I pick it up for her and I put the pieces in right and give it back to her, and she is quite happy. Lauren is very anal. Oh yes. And if she is anal at two, how anal do you think she'll be when she's my age? The thought is frightening. I can't have an anal child. I am not anal about anything! I actually have to look for things to be anal about. Nobody in my family is anal; this is obviously the genes of her father, Mr. Organized. I told her to put her legos away, and she had to take all of them apart, none of them could be stuck together. After she'd put them all away, I found another little stack under my desk, and I picked it up and put it in the box. Lauren freaked and had to pick it up and take it apart. Even though it was only three lousy legos stuck together. Tonight I gave the little smelly elf a bath. She loves her baths. One surefire way to get her attention is to mention the word bath, and she is half-way up the stairs before you can blink. Appearantly, she loves to be naked. She loves to bob up and down in her tub naked, she likes to run around naked, she is just a little nudist. But there is nothing cuter than when she is all clean and fresh, dressed in her cute little jammies and Minnie Mouse slippers and running over to her daddy with fish lips to give him a kiss goodnight. And then she insists on kissing the baby too, but she doesn't really kiss him, she just presses her cheek to his and calls it a kiss. It's adorable! See, these are the times when I wish she would always be this small and never ever grow up. calvin & hobbs |
