![]() Lucy and the Dakota | 19 March 2004 You know what I realized? I used to be very unhappy. And now? Now, not so. I mean, my life isn't perfect or anything. I'd love to be thinner. I'd love to be rich. I'd love to have more shoes. But, all things considered, I'm not morbidly obese, I'm not swimming in debt, and I do have a few pairs of kick ass boots. So life? Not that bad. That makes for some boring writing though, doesn't it? Ray bought a car off the internet. We had to drive to Maryland to pick it up. We decided to save the wear and tear on my car and we rented a really nice truck--a 2004 Dodge Dakota, a purple one. I had a great time today pretending that it was mine. I was driving down the freeway today listening to Steve Miller Band's Keep on Rockin' Me Baby and pretending I was the type of girl who normally drives a truck and listens to Steve Miller Band. I picked up my check from work, and I had a good time pretending that truck was mine. But anyway. Ray bought a Dodge Caravan off of the internet. (Please note that through some strange twists of fate, Ray and I have become Dodge people.) He got it for $800, which is not bad. Let's hope it's not a lemon. I was completely against him buying it. I hate mini-vans, and I have told him several times, in no uncertain terms, am I going to be driving that monstrosity. No way, no how. I am not a mini-van person. We have to take the truck back in the morning. I don't know if I'm going to be able to part with it. AJ has been a big crank all day. I kept sending him to his room because he was beating on Lauren and he refused to take a bath. I finally put him to bed a few minutes ago, and let me tell you, he is not happy about that at all. He keeps yelling that he wants to go downstairs and watch the doggies (Oliver and Co.) and that Mama's a "big bully." I was talking to Boof the other day, and the two of us were lamenting that we never get to go to Disneyland together anymore. She thinks it's some kind of horrible torture to not take my kids to Disneyland at least twice a year. So, after all of that lamenting, Boof decided to rectify the situation and she called in some reinforcements: our dad. He is going to buy plane tickets for me and the kids to come visit him in May! That's going to be my birthday present! Woohoo! Suddenly, the prospect of turning yet another year older doesn't seem so daunting. And we're all going to go to Disneyland! Woohoo again! I am so excited! Ray bought a giant bag of Hershey's miniatures. I am currently digging through it trying to fish out all of the Krackels. Once I polish those off, I like to eat the Mr. Goodbars. The Hershey's I'll eat only if there's no Krackels or Mr. Goodbars. I make Ray and the kids eat the Special Darks; they're the lowest rung on the Hershey ladder. Work is okay. Lori fired Sara, and she hired a new guy named Brad. She also hired another new guy, but I haven't met him yet and I don't know his name. Adrian wrote me a cryptic note, and I'm having trouble deciphering it. Bonnie is a hundred times cooler than I ever thought possible. Daniel gets on my nerves after a while, but I can't help but like him too. Bill is still goofy, and I found out that he is a serious dog person. He spoils his dog big time. One time he brought her in to work (her name is Missy), and when I walked in, she was laying on the desk, wrapped up in a big blanket and surrounded by tiny slices of Vienna sausages topped with cheese and pepperoni. He gets mad if you refer to Missy as a dog or if you don't let her kiss you. Does anyone else find this extremely strange? Peggy is still a crossword cheating Nazi. Danny is still Danny and Ty is still very spiritually enlightening. Ty has taken to calling me Australopithecus and Lucy (an unevolved joke) and I have taken to thumping him. I told him today that his head sounds like a very ripe melon when I thump him. He said he wasn't sure if that was an insult or not, but he is going to take it as one. And that is really all that's going on. I'm going to go sleep on my comfy new matress. Later. calvin & hobbs |
